I picked this thing up from @NAS almost 2 months ago, and finally got around to setting it up last night. My other tank was already set up and finished by the time I joined ARC, so never bothered doing one of these for it. Wanted to keep track of this little thing though so here we go!
I took some media and live rock from my 25 gallon, to jump start the cycle. I moved over a rock with a single Yuma mushroom and 2 of my lower end zoas, to see how they would do right off the bat. The zoas have already opened more in this tank than they did in my main one. That’s probably due to them just sitting on the sand bed being neglected, but I’ll take a win either way!
The tank came with a few upgrades like a RFG return nozzle, upgraded return pump, a cup for filter floss, and even the little attachment for a DIY auto top-off with a water bottle.
Upgrades I plan on making, I definitely want to upgrade the light. I’m thinking of the Kessil A80 Tuna Blue. Seems like a good price point and will be more than enough for how little of a tank this is. I need more rock to break up and build an actual scape for the left side.
My plan is to just have this be a softie tank, and make more room for harder to keep stuff in my 25 gallon. If I’m able to keep it nice and stable for the softies, then I may throw a torch or goni in on one of the branch tips for some movement. Either way, I’m stoked to have this little thing running next to my desk and looking forward to watching it grow.
