So I’ve noticed heads in some of my hammers starting to recede and die. What happens is the heads slowly die back over a few weeks. I know it’s probably a bacterial infection but does simply dipping them all take care of the problem? Is the bacteria in the tank floating in the water column? My parameters are good and stable. I change water every two weeks so not sure what caused the issue. Is dipping the only course of action? Thank you for any advice.

My hammers propagate like mad, but certain heads will die back. The culprit is usually another nearby coral stinging it. I would only consider dipping if you are getting brown jelly that are wiping out colonies in a matter of days. Some heads are in a bad place for flow or light, and just don't like it there. In short, not sure this is an infection.
