so with all the recent buzz around LED i wanted to try a few in the lower end of the price. My two wants to be able to grow sps and be able control the blue and the white individually. it came down to the black box, the AI sol nano, and the ECORAY 60D ( all under 300)
I tried the black box first and didn't like it much. The model I order did have the control for the white and blue, but only 1 power cord. So it was quickly tossed out. leaving the AI sol nano and EcoRay 60D.

AI redid the design of the nano to mock their new line of LED (phoenix) instead of using 4 small pucks, they used 2 larger pucks. I am using it for my 25 cube atm, 18x18x18. It's coverage is much better than their old ones. it covered my tank fully and probably would cover a solona 34 without problems.

I still dont like their touch control. I think its a novelty but not very useful. You can save the setting you want so it can be used on a timer, but the touch control can't be use to program the unit for day and night. BOOOO.

The EcoRay 60D is actually a really powerful unit. I was surprised how much par I got from it.its 60 1 watt LED. It's more basic and doesn't come with all the bell and whistle like the AI.

it has 2 cord, one blue, one for white. It's a 50/50 mix with a color output of what i guess to be 14k-15k ( A little more blue than the 14k phoenix MH). For now I will use it as a sump light. Haven't had to much time with teh fixture yet. Will update everything.
I will review my Radion, Orphek, Reef Tech, and Vertex soon for those that want to know about higher end LED.
