I'm buying a fairy wrasse tomorrow and its the fish i've wantd since i started this hobby. But i dont know alot about them. I heard thier difficult to keep and im worried. For me its alot of money to be throwin around and then loose the fish because i dont no how to keep it. I've ead what i could online and its not specific. My tank is a 40 breeder. I have a pair of clowns, a tailspot blenny, a molly, a rhino blenny(aka horned blenny) , and a male lyretail anthias. So i would like sugeestions and feedback on this fish. If you kept one, how long did it live? What you fed it etc. As much info you can give please.

Normally the main concern with any wrasse is that it's going to jump out. Do you have some type of cover situated?

I have enough 1/4" clear netting to make a screen top if you want to make a mesh top. I can make the frame and screen it but I'm very busy for the next month or so. But your welcome to swing by if you ever pass by Tucker and pick up enough to DIY.

Ive had quite a few fairy wrasses. In my opinion, they are slow acclimaters but once acclimated pretty hardy fish. Ive never had one jump, but I expected they would. Always been great eaters. Shy at first, but their personality comes out quickly after they realise there is no threat in the tank. I heard having moonlights on through the night greatly reduces their urge for nightime carpet surfing.

They can go thru egg crate, get the 1/4 clear netting top made before you buy the wrasse. I have 8 wrasses and they hit my top several times a week. :D

Where is a good place to get some without it being stupid expensive? Myabe im looking in the wrong places lol

What kind of fairy wrasse? My female exquisite is a model citizen, she doesn't eat invertebrates either. I have heard that with maturity behavior can change. Mine lives in an open top 40 breeder, but after reading this, I think it would be best to make a top. They can easily be made out of old window screens. The mesh is easy to replace, and the frames are easy to fabricate to the right length/width. You might need 2. If you have them laying around.

Uh i forgot lol i'll post it tomorrow after i pick it up. Oh im comin to get the stuff tomorrow you said after 5 right?

Then yes, I do have a set of moonlights that will work for you depending on how your current lighting is set up. I have 2 different kinds available. One is a 1 ft long metal strip with 4 LED's in it. It's designed to sit on a glass cover or could possibly be attached to a light. The second is just basic wire with either 4 or 6 LED's in line (can't remember which until I look). Each LED is about a foot apart (again, maybe less, not looked in a while). These could easily be attached to any light.

I'll probably have to meet you somewhere, but it shouldn't be a problem.
