From about 1 month into this tank, I have had 3 or 4 small Feather Dusters. Of course being new I immediately posted pics wondering if they were good or bad. All replys said it was a sign of a healthy tank. Well, my tank must REALLY be healthy now. In the past week, we have seen at least 10 or 15 new ones. All are small and most are white but a couple look to be a bit purple. Just that was interesting.

all good, extra filter feeders if you like em. if not, they are pretty easy to remove. Many wrasse will also eat them

Well apparently my 6 line doesn't care for them. LOL As for liking them, I love them. Even bought a nice full size Feather Duster from Rit a couple weeks ago. :-)

Nice, i am starting to see them pop up in my 125, I am hoping that they will do the same thing as they did in my 29 years ago and completely populate within the rock stack, I have hundreds and hundreds of them, it was pretty cool! Lemme see if i can find an old picture

During an amm, trite or trate spike, they may be the first thing to go... That's the way it works in my tank, its the small micro fauna that suffers first...

Well the very first one I saw back in August is still there and kicking so I will take that as a good sign that my tank is stable. Knock on wood. (ouch, I need to stop hitting myself in the head like that). :-)

If your tank can suppor it, a copperband will get rid of them in a few days. If you don't want them. I usually let them grow like crazy in the overflow

While picking up additions to my cuc from Jenn I mentioned that everyone was giving me tips on getting rid of them and wondered why people would want to get rid of them. She pointed out to me that when people put "Explosion" in the title it usually means they want it gone. Let me be clear, as long as they are not hurting anything I love them. :-)
