Like the title says, I'm looking for comments on this tank design...

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=4186&pictureid=29294" alt="" />

It's a 6'X2'X2' 1/2" glass with coast-to-coast overflow (w/o fence) with Bean style drain. Each drain is 1.5" PVC. The overflow box is 4" wide and 6" deep with approx 5'6" of "spillway". European braces are 3" wide and 1/2" thick. Max overflow rating of +5000gph.

There is obviously a lot more detail to the rest of hte setup but I need advice/comments on structural design before I move forward. Thanks for all who give feedback!

Sounds like the tank I am planning in my future! Are you building it yourself?

I'm lookin for Chris (Fish Scales2) to build it for me. Haven't finalized or given the go ahead yet but have talked about it some already. Here is the most recent total fish room design for it...

If the tank looks too elevated, that's because it is! The adjoining room it will be viewable from is 18" higher than this room so I have additional space on the fish room side. Lucky me! :yay:

This is too funny... exactly the same design I had in mind for Chris to build me... except I'll probably go with 28" depth. You probably choose this design for some of the reasons I did:

- More usable room in the tank without the two overflows.
- Less noise and greater return flow with the Animal Bean style return.
- Broader area for surface skimming.
- No center bracing.
- Overall look.

I can't do mine until I get this dang unemployment thing worked out... but it is positively in my future!

Enough said. You are in good hands. Chris built me an external overflow tank and it's been fantastic!
