Feeding an anemone

How do I know how much to feed my anemone? Is there any way to know when it is 'full'? Will it stop taking the food if it does not want anymore?

I have been feeding krill and mysis with occasional freeze dried brine shrimp thrown in.

Any guidance you can give is much appreciated.

The more I fed mine, the bigger it got, the bigger it got, the more it split.

2-3 times a week is a good frequency for feeding your anemone. Any more frequently and you'll be chancing combining mostly digested food and associated waste with the new food which is not a good idea.

Also please discontinue feeding it freeze ried brine shrimp since it really does not provide your anemone with nutrition unless its soaked in Selcon or some other nutritional enhancing solution. I've read that feeding brine shrimp is like eating popcorn; filling but lacking nutrition. Of course, I'm refering to frozen brine shrimp or freeze dried brine shrimp; not newly hatched brine shrimp which does have lots of nutritional value.

amici, maybe it doesn't split because you keep feeding it so it can continue to sustain the size it's reached..

I would think that they split when they can no longer sustain their size..

I feed mine some seafood every 4 days and i'm sure they get more from the clowns. All mine split regularly. Charlie, If you want to encourage a healthy large nem to split, just take it out of the water and let it hang for a minute over a bucket. Most nems will split after the stress of being moved.

My rbta is now substantially larger than a dinner plate. It gets fed once every 7-10 days.... just preceding a water change.

The thing has already split once, and I hope it does again soon. It's just too big.

So is freeze dried anything bad or just the brine shrimp? The krill I have is also the freeze dried kind. The mysis is the frozen cubes that I thaw before feeding.

Both scallops and clam is fine as well as krill, mysis shrimp and silversides. Please avoid feeding freshwater fish since they do <u>not</u> have the omega 3 and other amino acids that marine organisims do.

It all about the rods food dude. Predator blend. Use a turkey bastor to target shoot. N bam it's got pretty much everything every one has mentioned and some. No need to wonder if it's getting the rite stuff. Best idea is check it out for yourself
