Feeding Coral

I need some advice on what to feed and how often to feed. I've went through phases of feeding heavily, and I've went through phases of not feeding at all. Currently, I'm coming off of an algae problem, so I haven't fed in awhile. I have oyster eggs and rotofers. I know I need to get some phyto, but I guess I'm wondering how often to feed each (zoo and phyto). I have a densely populated mixed reef - but mostly sps, lps, and zoas/palys.

unless you have non-photosynthetic coral, AND you are just coming off an algae issue...I wouldn't feed more than once a month.

oyster eggs, maybe an eighth of a teaspoon and feed some polyps some ship...forget the phyto!

stop adding, you need to take away nutrients for healthy corals....

unless you have some pipefish or something that feeds on pods, ditch the phyto.

I never directly feed my SPS. I have sun coral so I feed that 3-4 times a week (most of it seems to end up in fishes bellies anyway, the little thieves). I thaw enough to give some to my other LPS, but that's only cause I think it's cool.

hmm so I guess I haven't been starving my corals after all. I have a colony of dendro that I feed often but other than that I'll resist the urge. lol. I was wondering if feeding would increase their growth rate, but even if that's the case, I don't want to risk increasing the nutrients.

It can increase growth depending on the species. I am a fan of Anthony Calfo's coral propagation book and he gives good advise on feeding specific coral. In a mixed reef I found I've gotten to a point in just under 2 years with a 120 that I don't want them to grow faster! I run out of room for frags.
