Finally my Durso is silent!

After struggling to find the appropriate size hole that would both flow quietly and not flush i finally found a solution. I cut a small slit into a screw type cap for venting. I am now silently circulating around 800 gph from the basement. I know that there are several variants to the general standpipe but this worked the best for my particular situation.

Hopefully someone else with a noisy standpipe will be able to use this idea.

Good move! I used to have that issue a little, but I just loved the sound of "flush". Not really, just accepted it. When I expanded my fuge, however, I went back down from a mag 7.5 to a 3 to slow the flow. All fixed, too!

It is absolutely amazing how fast water will move through a 1.5" drain with a full siphon! They can be down right scary when let loose.
