I finally moved into my 32 BioCube after spending 2 years with a 2.5 gallon. I moved in on January 11th.
Present:
I moved over my Clownfish (Splooter), Nassarius Snail (Hammond), Suction Cup Caulerpa and 2 baby leathers. Since then I've bought a Kenya tree, Midas Blenny (Karuso), Neon GSP, Pulsing Xenia, a Bird's Nest, and 3 Trochus Snails.
Future:
Coral: I can't think of any other corals to add at this time, but I'd like to add more Macro algaes, and eventually sponges.
CUC: I'd like to replace the Trochus Snails with stomatella snails and Micro brittle starfish (I got one as a hitchhiker from the GPS, but not sure if it can establish a population). I'd also like featherdusters and tube worms when I'm a bit more established.
Fish: After my tank becomes more established I'd like to get a breeding pair of Banggai Cardinals.
Long Term: I'd love to have a system established enough for a Christmas tree rock. I'm not sure if a BioCube will cut it's needs, but it's possible I might upgrade again before I reach this goal anyway.
Overall Goal/Vision:
I wanted a fun and interesting tank that I could grow and then harvest from. I hope to frag my corals, macros, and future sponges for other hobbyists in my community, and maybe I'll be successful with the Banggai Cardinal breeding too. This experience will teach me about the hobby and help prepare me for my true dream tank... a frogfish.
Undecided Thoughts
Should I get my Clownfish a mate? I don't mind having just one, but not sure if he'd be happier with one.
For the future I'm relying on the idea of Amphipods keeping my sponges clean but... can they handle the job? I know peppermint shrimp have a symbiotic relationship with sponges, but I worry about them preying on my future featherdusters/tube worms.
Are Amphipods and Micro Brittle Starfish enough alone to keep the sand clean? My sand might be too coarse for a Sand Sifting Goby (Grain size: 0.25-3.5mm).
My tank has a lot of caves and currently my Midas Blenny has the run of things. Should I add something else that would appreciate my caves? I wouldn't want anything that would bother the Blenny at all.
