firehouse subs bucket

Yes they had pickles in them. It is just vinegar but I would still rinse out with more vinegar and water. Will be getting some myself as they are a great deal!

Didnt you just blow up your tank with a mousepad?

Perhaps "safe to use?" is a question you shouldnt ask for a bit.

I couldn't help but to laugh... but that was truly a sad incident. I'm very sorry that the mousepad thing happened. I think there is less variances when dealing with firehouse sub buckets than with mouse pads (that are made a hundred different ways).

I didn't think that new, unused buckets from HD/Lowes were that expensive? Even with a lid.

I actually think the lid is more expensive than the bucket itself. Total cost at HD: $4-5. I just bought some the other day.

I've used similar buckets from my brothers store, some of them had pickels in them. Others I have used were from dunkin doughnuts, they had the frosting or something like that in them. I cleaned them really good and haven't had any problems.

I got some that were like 2 gallons from dunkin doughnuts they work great for transporting coral thats to big for a baggy, like a colony of sps etc etc. Very usefull to have. Also to do coral dips the 2 gallon bucket works great. I even think I have a 1 gallon somewhere too.

Edit: FYI, when my brother worked at dunkin doughnuts he told me that they had to throw away all of their buckets. They would get alot of buckets in a few times a week. I'de bet if you went to a dunkin doughnuts they might give you some or there is prob a millon out by their dumpster.

I asked him why they couldn't send them back to be refilled and he said they wouldn't do it, it was company policy to throw them out. I bet they could save a ton of money if they could figure a way to reuse those buckets.

All sizes too from 1 gallon 2 gallon 3 gallon and 5 gallon.

I use pickle buckets all the time. 100% safe.
I even have some 2 gallon sauerkraut buckets that I use to transport and acclimate fish.

i used the ones from firehouse myself but i wasnt to pleased with the top. it would always spill water when it shakes.

If the oceanic salt bucket had a metal handle, their buckets would be the best. Same with salinity. If salinity came with a metal handle, I'd probably try the salt once or twice, their lids look nice.
