I know that I shouldn't have, but I bought some neat live rock from a LFS that had aiptasia in their tanks. :confused2: My tank has just finished the initial cycle (125 gal). To make a long story short I saw a small bit of aiptasia on the back side of one of my rocks so I yanked it out and put in some bleach water to DIE! How long should I leave it in there and after soaking it in salt water should I ever put this rock back in my tank? Hopefully I won't find any more.

Peppermint shrimp made a quick meal out of the aiptasia I found in my tank. I haven't seen a bit of it in months!

You can reuse it, I would rinse it very well and put it in some water similar to whats in the tank and then check it for ammonia and ph if u want to be absolutly sure. Rinsing really well and leaving it suspended in water for maybe a week or two would do the trick i think.

best thing to do is soak the rock then let it dry 100% a week or two. i let mine sit in the sun out side for a few weeks after a bleach/water soak. i did rinse very well and soaked for a few days in more water

Thanks everyone for the input. I was hoping to avoid this stuff. I am having problems getting the balance right with my dt-sump-pump and my brand new ato from J&J isn't working (it keeps turning off before it reaches the sensor) so the shrimp will have to wait a bit. I have two herbie overflows that we drilled and it's like tuning a instrument (one with a spit valve).
