i found a used stand and canopy today, and i found a good deal on a new 210 tank which will be here in september. Now i need a sump! im looking for one that has all the compartments i need like for skimmer etc... But i also want it to have a large built in refugium like upwards of 30 gallons. Where do i find something like that, or does it have to be custom made? Is 30 refuge too big? Im totally new at this but i want to do it right the first time!

Well 10% is 21 to start with and that would be half so double it so that means you could get by with a 40 or a 55. But a 75 would be. Better. I have a 55 on my 120 and wished I could do a 75.

I have a 40 breeder on my 180 and luv it. But if you want a lot of room, I would recommend going bigger if you have the room. It all depends on how your lay out of the sump is.

A 40 is 36*18*14 and a55 is 48*12*22 and a 75 is 48*18*20.
Use what you want but bigger is better

I want the sump and refuge all one unit if possible so i only need one pump

Is it a good idea to use a 75 gallon tank for my sump/refugium ?

Yes and I believe better because you can design it to fit your needs. Have someone cut some plexiglas and silicone it in place. Mimic what you see from these premade ones. Make the area where you put your skimmer to the exact height you want the water to be for optimal skimming etc

I just happen to have a couple sheets of plexi glass in my garage. Ill have to wait till i find a skimmer then ill need help with the plexi layout. Thanks

1/4 min. depending on how high you have the water on one side it might / could bow it.

No I was asking Karl how thick his plexiglas was...but you did get to the heart of the question
