I just wanted to post a first thread and say hello to everyone. We purchased a 29 Gallon Biocube HQI back in December from a member of this club that had upgraded. We have been slowly (well at least trying to go slowly ) stocking and modifying the tank. It had been up and running for about a year when we got it and we were able to move all of the live rock and about 1/3 of the water. We were pretty clueless about everything when we started and thanks to this and other forums and Jenn at Imagine Ocean, we have been learning alot.

Over the past 3 months we have added snails, hermit crabs, a cleaner shrimp, a pair of clowns (sadly one did not make it), a goby and a wrasse. We have also added a bunch of coral frags including hammer, four or five varieties of zoas, birdsnest, acans and some mushrooms. We have gone kind of frag crazy and cannot seem to go to the store for water without coming home with at least one. My wife (who was reluctant to get the tank in the first place) is worse than I am and is already talking about a bigger tank! :o

Not sure if I did it correctly but I think I attached a picture of the initial set up from December and a recent photo. Sorry that the pictures are with my phone so are not great quality. We are not sure about placement of all the corals so we have not attached anything permanently and the frags are just sitting on pieces of rock or the sand until we figure out where they are going to live for good. Any suggestions on placement would be welcomed. Thanks and I look forward to getting to know everyone.

welcome to the madness. i have a 29BC as well. once it settled, i do a 5 gallon water change everyother week and clean my filter floss every day. pretty easy to maintain. hope you really enjoy the hobby.

Welcome. You picked to very good sources of information in my book. Can't beat the advice you get here or from Jenn. Bet I see you in that store before long. I have a hard time staying away too. :-)

Welcome to ARC! Check out the home page for info on our Frag Meeting this Sat the 25th. It is the biggest frag meeting of the year and the speakers are going to be great! Holley:)

Welcome to ARC, trust me you will be upgrading soon. I started my hobby with a 45 gallon, then a 75 gallon then a 125 now currently running a 135. And maybe one day a 210. Its just fact, bigger is better. :)

Welcome! Looks like you've got a nice system started. Are you and your wife coming to this weekends meeting? Its a great opportunity!

Welcome! I also have a BC29 that I started last June. I now have a 135 in the garage waiting on parts. My wife has been slowly getting the bug surpassing me now and then with her willingness to buy some frags etc... It's a great family hobby!

Welcome!I wish yall could pass that bug onto my wife, shes still making me downsize from my 150 cause its in the kitchen but thats ok Im tradding it for a RSM250 with all the upgrades!

Thanks everyone for the welcome and kind words. We got the tank for my 13 year old son and I to work on together, and I am surprised about how much my wife has gotten into it. She likes gardening and I think she looks at the corals in kind of the same way. We are all planning on going to the Frag meeting on Saturday and are really looking forward to it.

The member we bought our tank from had upgraded to the RSM250 and it looked awesome. I could definitely see it being our next system as well.
