Ok, I only ask becasue I could not locate the answer , hell I might not be looking in the right place.
Anyway, I have a Kenya tree that needs to be trimmed. I have never done anything like this and would really appreciate some advise on how to. I have some super glue gel and some base rock pieces to attach it to. I'm just not sure how to go about everything. Do I cut it under the water in the tank (I do have room) or what, ect.... Any advise would be great.
Thanks in advance.

cut it anyway you'd like to. Prune it like a real tree would be done. It's best to do that before it starts fragging itself and pieces land everywhere.

Personally, I loved a kenya tree when I first started , but wont have another.

Take it out, cut it, glue the pieces on the rocks. Put 'em back in. Nothing to it.
This is a coral that refuses to die.

I take a little more care with SPS, but hardier corals don't get pampered too much. I would dare say that you could keep the colony out of water for easily 30 minutes without killing it... maybe more.

once a kenya tree gets big enough it will drop limbs off and just use super glue GEL (only) and i shal do fine you can do the same with just about any coral as well. if you have any other corals to frag and need any help i will be happy to advise.

sorry you can just take and cut of what ever part you want, clean sharp scissors will do fine for a kenya tree.

they really do not die off easy it will be a good coral to try on. i really just throw the dropping from mine away it's a pain.

And for some reason, Robb's didn't grow at ALL in the year it was in his tank. Wierd. I did manage to kill some GSP once.

Softies are generally very difficult to glue. You're better bet is to use a rubber band to hold them to a piece of rock or frag plug/disk. The Keny Tree will latch on in no time.

As far as fragging is concerned, merely touching the Kenya Tree should prompt it to start dropping "limbs" like a lizard would its tail.

i would not glue down a kenya tree, they have a tendency to not grab this way. rubber band or a toothpick through its stalk with a rubber band to that.

i also have in the past put kenya trees and mushrooms in a small cup or shot glass with some marble sized pieces of rubble. place a piece of mesh over the top of the cup and give it a week or two and it will attach to some of the rubble, which in turn you can then glue to a larger rock or frag plug.

be careful with kenya trees though, as they will drop "babies" and you'll have a forest pretty soon.

Well thanks for all the input. I got it done today. I did use the super glue method and all seems to be fine. The piece that was cut is back fully open already. So all is wonderful in the reef again.LOL So thanks again everyone.
