Yea I guess thats it i got him a while back at petsmart but I guess they had him listed wrong cause they didn't call it a grouper thanks for the ID

Looks like a grouper some sort, definitely a predator! Will eat any fish that fits in its mouth.
What size is your tank, any other fish in there? Very cool!

Its a Miniatus Grouper. Will eat whatever it can fit in its mouth

They do have several names, so PetSmart didn't necessarily have it mis-labeled. Had one in a predator tank with lions and triggers a zillion years ago. They're beautiful, but don't play well with fish that are small enough to be eaten. Will likely eat come inverts as well.

I was able to take a good picture of him and yea i looked it up and it does look like a grouper. I went thru 2 pairs of clowns before I realized it was him that was eating them as soon as they hit the water in the tank. Ill be buying a fish trap and once I catch him ill find a good owner.

That is an Areolate Grouper, the Miniatus was the pink and blue one you posted originally. Doesn't really matter though, it belongs in a very large tank with other large, predatory fish.
