Fish injury ID please

Hi all. Anyone have any idea what's up with this weird discoloration spot? Fish seems to be doing okay. Just got him yesterday. Don't know if the spot was on him when I got him as the room was dark for acclimation.
It's just a hair swollen ( barely noticeable)
Fish is eating. It's only on that side of his body.

I have no idea what it could be, but I would isolate the fish in quarantine if you have one. My guess would be some sort of internal infection.

I think you're right, unfortunately my Corentine currently has a Millinor us rest in it that I'm trying to sell. I might just have to take him to the fish store for credit since people don't seem to be biting

We jokingly used to call that, "The herpes".

It's no joke though, it looks like it could be Uronema marinum. It's a parasite, and it often turns up during or shortly after shipping.

I'm not 100% sure that's what it is - do you know how long the fish was in the store before you bought it?

It was an online order, the infection started expanding on his body super quickly and he passed within 6 hours of my original post. I actually got a red and a yellow squirrel type fish in the order and they both got the same issue and passed (weren't shipped in the same bag either). I'll get a full refund but always a sad day to have it happen

If you put them directly into your tank with healthy fish you may have additional problems!

unfortunately they both passed very fast, within 6 hours or so of my posting. I don't think there was even time for a store run for some medicine. I did have them in the DT for several hours but all others seem to be okay as i'm now quite a few days later and no signs of issues.

maybe someday i can talk my wife into a dream tank in the living room and use this one as the qt. Unlikely though, she doesn't like my tank very much, especially all the buckets and such that end up laying around for water changes, ato, etc. I tried telling her all that would be in the fishroom in the basement but haven't been able to make anything fly.
