Ok so I have a beautiful purple firefish, two perc clowns, and a cardinal in my tank. At first when I got the firefish home he swam around and enjoyed my tank but after about two weeks I'm lucky if he peeks his head out of his little hole he's made his area once every three or four days. He eats just fine from when I put the frozen food in it goes everywhere so he snags up pieces that go in his home, but I want him to come out more often. I read my clowns might be picking on him so he's hiding. I also read that if I got a green chromis that he might come out more often bc they supposedly somehow make fish that are very timid and nervous come out more often. Could that be true? Would it maybe be a solution to my hiding firefish problem?

I have 2 fire fish one is very timid , but comes out when his buddy's is out , I'd put another dart fish in with it , they enjoy eachothers company mine sleep touching eachother I see them every night in there corner/cave

I read that they don't go well together in the same tank unless they are paired or introduced at the same time would they be ok with each other just adding another to the group? Also I don't want to overload my tank. I have 4 fish right now and if I added another obviously that'd be 5 is that to much for a 29 gallon biocube?

As small as they are and how discipline you have been with feeding you will be fine

Firefish are Dartfish... i.e. they hide in a hole... dart out for food... dart back into their hole.

Expected behavior.

But... having more than one will give them a bit more confidence to be in the open.

Just an FYI I'd say 5 should be the max. I had 5 for quite a longtime time and always felt like it was one too many lol! Sadly my 6-line passed so I'm sticking at 4.

Yea I'm not getting any more fish I'm very happy with my fish now and they are all always swimming around and happy now too :)
