Yep. LE. Corals really wouldn't be big money locally because who on there right mind would buy a frag of a $300 coral and not grow it out and frag it?? If it was done over the web you can sell one to one person in each city and never run out of business. Really though it shouldn't be anyones business if you are buying to grow out and sale to make some of the cash spent back. Since that is exactly what the clubs slogan is... conservation through propagation.

Maybe I heard wrong but either way what are you going to educate someone to do? Imo buy frags instead of wild colonies and buy tank bred over wild caught.

That's right, Robin. Our initial (and IMO, continuing) mandate in the Club is to promote responsible reefkeeping practices by sharing information and knowledge with one another, for the purposes of helping each other be responsible stewards of the creatures we keep.

Propagation is just one of those aspects, but it's certainly not the only one.

I was in a reef store once and there were big bags labeled "Morton's Pond Salt" stacked up in the back. I really didn't want to know why.

There is such a thing as pond salt, as well as live-bearer salt for freshwater and brackish water. A small amount of salt can act like a "tonic" for freshwater fishes, and of course is necessary for brackish water fishes.

Stands to reason that Morton's would get into that market since salt is their business

But there was nothing other than reef livestock in the store... I wouldn't have thought much of it if they'd had FW there (though it was still a LOT... about 10 bags that were the size of 50lb dog food bags).
