I'm a fan of angels in a reef tank. I feed HEAVILY, though, so I minimize the carnage. They'll generally nip and may even feast on a coral here and there, but depending on the specimen, it may be worth it.
Kept a Regal and a flame for several years in a mixed reef with no problems. I agree with Skriz keeping them well feed helps your chances. Bologna is safe around me when there is plenty of steak available.
been lucky myself with pair of Flame Angels not picking at any SPS or Zoas. Unfortunately not the same with open brains and clams... they would nip at the mantle and aggitate them..had to sell them off (the clams and brian, not the angels)
Thanks everyone for your feedback. I decided to go with a flameback. Just picked her up from The Fish Store. We shall see how she does. Very fat and healthy looking.
