Ok.. so my 'looks like it is growning into a green brittle' star fish is starting to become more active during all times of the day. (See pic) This guy has grown from about the size of his disk to the size in the picture in about 6 months. (he was a stow-away in the LR) What finally got me was when he came out of the rocks during the day, crawled right on the green tip bubble and snatched the shrimp from him. The tomato got upset and was pecking at the star, but it did not care and made its way back under a rock. (I would have thought the green tip would sting the star?)
Anyway.. The pet store will take him off my hands and sugested a florida fighting conch as a reef friendly sand cleaner. I noticed the price was cheap, which made me think that nobody wants it. I checked the internet and most people like it, except the fact that some people say it picks off snails on the sand or close on the glass?
I have a ton of flat snails from the LR and would not miss a few, but would it go after hermits and other sand creatures? (I have a 55gal tank) she also suggested a sand sifting star?
