Starting a new tank (75 AGA). I have most the items I need but I want to ensure I have enough flow. I plan on keeping 2 clowns, 1 BTA and a xenia. Of course any livestock at all is several months down the road but I want to get the proper flow right off the bat. Thanks for any input.

I'm running the Koralia Hydor's in my 135--I'm using the KH4's, you may want a couple of the KH 2 or 3's ; to me they put out a good gentle current unstead of a blowing type current by most powerheads. The only downside, they are a little bulky to me-but if you didn't want to sink the big $$$ for stuff like tunze, they are a great alternative-- I would get at least 20X's turnover--probably shoot for 30-40.

i have a korilia 4 in my 75 and was thinking of adding another, but between 20 an 40 times is a good turn over rate.

That shouldn't require 20 to 40 times turnover in your tank. 15 to 20 times max with that type of livestock. Plan to add more flow as your livestock selections change, but you could start out on the lower end. I used one moded Tunze 6025 for my 65g with good results in my softies tank. I added a second 6025 after I got some sps. I still only have an estimated 27 times turnover, but feel thats plenty for my BTA and softie predominate tank.

I am with Dakota. Xenia in my experience do not like high flow environments and prefer a more gentle flow. Fish don't really care for the most part although high flow environments might be healthier.

The Koralias are a fine powerhead especially for the money.

I agree with Cameron and Dakota here. You dont need that much turnover. just make sure you don't have any dead spots in the tank; this way the debris won't accumulate in one spot.

From what I've seen with xenia is that they seems to hate high flow. Mine has always grown faster with low flow.

I have Tunzes; they're expensive, but do a very good job. Quite large though. I've never used the Koralias, but they seem to be nice units. Maxijets have always been quite reliable and cheap too.
