Does anyone is using some ?
I kind of remember someone is using but can't find his thread, want to benefit from adding one for the UV light and the chiller. I have the Tom flow meter but is not what I want, I need something more accurate and digital to be more specific.
I been searching about one but it seems like it never made it to the market or it's been discontinued, "Corrente Flow Meter", can't find a place to purchase.
There's some others at eBay but I would love to hear input if anyone have experience with them.
Digital display would be a nice option to have so I would be able to adjust to my needs.

Thanks!

There's been a couple of good builds where people have used them, this one comes to mind...

as well as G's build, you may be on your own looking through that one.... it's like 200 pages long packed with neat idea's.

As for the question do I use one... no I just guesstimate and time how long it takes to fill a 5 gallon bucket ( I do measure and mark a 5 gallon mark) and then do the math. I thought I remember seeing one in the catalog for US Plastics and there is always Grainger.

Yes, the first one uses a "Tom flow meter" I have that, but I believe it just read to certain gph and after that you don't know how much "flow" is going through.
On the second build, I was following every page before G got his tank hehehe!
I certainly could do the trick and do the measure/math to guess the gallons, let's say I want to get a Flow meter to be redundant.
Honestly, want to play with the options of knowing the gph going to each section of the system, we know the UV would be available for two purposes "green water and to prevent disease" (I don't want to get in debate whether or not it's true or myth) and said that both of the porpoises uses different gph.
The other one would be good to adjust the flow going through the Chiller.

That would come in handy. I think I remember hearing Neptune was working on something like that for use after a return pump. Tagging along.

I use the George Fisher flow meters. There's 2 types: ultrasonic and paddle wheel. I recommend the ultrasonic.

Raj, any specific model of them more useful for the application you need it?
Just to pinpoint the more appropriate one

In all honesty they simply are not worth it.

The cheaper ones(that are not that cheap) will actually reduce flow to measure it and are not very accurate. Plus after a few months calcium and other stuff will build up on them and further reduce accuracy and flow restrictions.

The real ones (ultra sonic) are REALLY expensive.

Plus hard plumbing it in is kind of a waste since there are a number of items you would want to know the flow to. If I thought it was worth it, I would get a cheaper one and plug it into the outlets of whatever I wanted to test and adjust. Would keep it cleaner and make it usable everywhere its needed.

If I really want to know my flows past eyeballing it, I just see how long it takes to fill up a 1 litter or 1 gallon jug.
