I'm looking at ways to increase flow in my 140, but I'm not sure what is the best route. It will have quite a bit of sps, so I need more than the 2 6025s are providing right now. I was wondering, do the MJ1200s with the Sureflow mods get the job done? I was thinking they'd be ideal to control with a wavemaker.

Do not think you are supposed to use the mods on a wave maker or at least its not recommended from what I have read. I would look at the tunzes or maybe controllable Korailia's. I have one of the mods and it generates lots of flow. The others seem to have a better flow being wider and more gentle.

I have lots of problems with my tunze 6025s on startup (running backwards). Are the steams better for this?

check ebay........i picked up 2 mj1200's with the little hydroflow rotating adapter and a mj400 all for like 30 bux shipped.....

What mods are the best? I have seen Gulf Stream, ECO, and the Algea free. I was hoping the MJs would be good for "wavemaking" or at least alternating flow patterns, as I wanted to use a couple to supplement my full time PH's.

I have thought about that too. An external CL. Let me know if you go for it.

I use a mag and scwd and it works great. I dont use that big of a mag but I only have it on a 30g.

GO for the MJ1200 with ECO mod kits on the Red Sea Wave maker. You can pick up it all, mostly used for "on the cheap". The ECO start up well and work great on the wavemaker.

I was thinking that was what you were using, Mark, or something similar. I have a ACJr, so it would stand in for the Red Sea, right? Or do they offer some kind of better startup firmware?

I think the ACJr can control PHs, should work if they can. The ACJr experts will have to answer that one.

Yeah, the AC can control them, I just dont know if it has any kind of soft start option or other PH saving programming.

Mark, the only thing I noticed about the eco mods is that they dont include any type of mounting mods to compensate for the new way the PH has to be positioned. How did you solve this? I have considered cheap magnet cleaners.

ECO makes a mounting bracket:
