i was given one of these for free by a friend who owns a fish store. now i was wondering should i set it up. is it worth it. ive herd they kinda suck. what should i do with it.

I use one and it keeps the nitrates down. The issue is that it takes time for the bacteria to build up on the sand grains for the FBF to work efficiently. Give it about a month and you wil notice a difference. Remeber also, low flow though the FBF(350-500GPH).
