I first want to thank all who came.
While it is still a fresh memory, I really would like honest suugestions to help improve this event.
Please be brutally honest. I truely want this to go huge and I can't do that with my own limited thinking. Please post suggestions.
Last year we had peiople but not enough vendors.
This year we had 20 vendors but not a large crowd, but we did give out over 200 door tickets over the 4 hours.
There has to be a way to get vendors and a crowd. Do I need to pay for advertising? Where would I do that?
What would draw in a bigger crowd.
The date is always going to be the first weekend in November. I try to get info out as soon as possible. The first year I put out the info September 1 and was told it was much too early and that people would forget. This year I posted in October and was told it was too late. I would like to put flyers in stores but stores are reluctant to post a flyer as it will take business away from them.
Would it help to have a formal registration and make everyone pay a nominal fee to cover the cost of a speaker. Tell me want you all think. I like the family atmosphere that has been part of the last three years and do not want to lose that. I realize we should probably change the location, but then I feel I would lose control of how it is run. It is not a power thing, but I feel it is good for my students to see and help provide this community service. I like that they help the vendors and talk with the fraggers to learn more about the hobby.
Brandon did a great job getting the word out last year. This year I was confused on where to post. Many of the forums, I did not have access to. I was able to contact Raj once to confirm that there was not an ARC conflict that day but that was the only conversation. I expected a much larger crowd and I thought we had the formula right without conflicts form both clubs.
I would like this to get snowballing and get bigger each year. The question is how to do that. I do not know how or who to contact as far as ARC jumping on board. I know ARC does more trading at your meetings but I still think that a frag swap is helpful to new hobbyists and people looking for smaller pieces.
Let's discuss and figure this out so the 4th will be huge.
Thanks again,
My students & I appreciate all of your generosity and support.
