Hi there. I am planning on building a stand to hold my 40L frag tank and underneath have 2 compartments. One side holds my electrical equipment from my 120 that comes through the wall and the other side will hold my CA Reactor and CO2 tank.

My question is: What's suitable to use to support everything? Granted a 40L isn't a whole heck of alot of weight. The dimensions of my stand are tentatively: 36"L X 20"W X 30"H. The frag tank dimensions are: 36"L X 18"W X 12"H.

I was thinking about using 2x2's or possibly using 3/4" plywood.

Can anyone help me out here please?

Thanks.

For a 40 GAL tank you are looking at around 340pds just water and add LR/LS so you are looking are supporting max around 400pds. 2X2 would work as long as you supported the side and part of the back with plywood. You'd be surprised how much weight wood stands can hold. Good luck!

Thanks Mark. The tank will remain BB. I think I will go with 6 2x2's and then wrap it in plywood.

Just contemplating using 3/4" vs 1/2" plywood. More than likely, I will probably go with 3/4", just to be safe.
