Frag tank lighting

I am looking for a MH pendant for a frag tank I'm setting up and wanted to get feedback on my lighting plan.

Since I run 250 and 150 MHs over the display I am planning on using a 250W pendant over the frag tank. I figure as corals grow, the transition to the display will be smooth.

The question: I've heard I should use brand new bulbs in the frag light and keep it swapped out as I change bulbs in the display. Then I heard I could just use the 250Ws from the display as I change them out with new. Use the older 250's for a few months each.

Thoughts?

Typically a frag tank is shallower than a display hence the PAR left would suffice for a frag tank for a few months. That practice is exactly what I am going to do with my 400W MH....display 6 months, then frag.

Cool - Since I have 3 250's in my display fixture I was planning on running them 9 months and then use them over the frag tank for 3 months each. That way I buy 3 250W bulbs once every 9 months.
