Other than splitting a rock, how can a pollyp or two be extacted and still be able to grow elsewhere? Can I just cut it near the bottom like xenia and just glue/set it to a rock?

And don't underestimate the power of their toxins.

Yeah, they are a real pain. I just used an exacto knife #11 I think and just cut as close to the rock as I could. THe exacto blades are smaller and thinner so you can maneuver it in there better. Wear goggles/safety glasses too. Dont get that crap in your eye.

Well unlike everybody else I guess I am lazy. I have a pair of wire cutters that I used to cut into the rock that the polyps are attached to. Hell yesterday I reached down into the tank and ripped a rock covered with button polyps from where it was and placed it in a different location. Now I can't suggest doing this, but I have not experienced any ill effects from doing it. I do run carbon 24/7 so that prob helps a lil bit.

thanks for all the tips guys. I have two brown button pollyp rocks that are out of room, and are beggining to overtake neighboring colonies, so I figure if they grow so well I'll split 'em over the tank elsewhere.
