I have xenia growing like weeds on my live rock.
How can i safely cut it from the rock without polluting my water.Do i just remove the whole rock, cut it off, then replace the rock.
My lfs wants to buy or trade for it,what do i do with it once it has been cut.do i just throw it into my qt tank and let them heal that way or is there a better way?

I use a toothpick and gently pry it off, but that will give a loose coral that will need attached to a rock. I use rubber bands loosely holding it to chunks of rubble rock.

Do what I do, since mine grows like mad (1 mother stalk turned into probably 40+ over 6 months) just put the LR that the xenias attached to in a bucket temporarily and work with it outside the tank. Either pry (best way) or cut them off then wrap something around itself and some rubble or live rock and it will reattach in low to medium flow. Wish my other stuff grew like this.

Edit: BTW I live in cumming and if anyone is interested in some pink xenia I have alot of very healthy and quick growing that I will need to be pruning back this week. Will likely trash them so if anyone wants some let me know.

I reach in with tweezers and pull it off the rock and throw it on some rubble and wrap bridal veil around it. Can't hardly kill that stuff
