freshwater protein skimming?

Just wondering if anyone had any info or experience with protein skimmer on freshwater setups. Does a regular skimmer work or does it have to be modified somehow...? Any advice or info helps.

Freshwater doesn't have enough surface tension to skim.

Would you mind explaining your theory? I was of the thought that this is pretty much impossible bc you cannot create a foam column

I have clients who use MRC beckett injection skimmers for freshwater purposes; no gimmicks needed.

Needle-wheel skimmers aren't powerful enough to work on fw, though.
