Friend or Foe

Maybe a sponge? My first thought was a ball anemone but I've never seen one like that. On the plus side, I've seen a lot of hydroids in my day and the bad one's don't look like that either. Do they move at all? I mean, there appear to be tips of some sort, are they soft like a small (ball) anemone or is the whole structure hard.

They seem to be soft. On my overflow, they seem to be forming a chain like structure. At first sight, I thought they were snail eggs.

Looks like possibly snail eggs, sponges or tunicates. Hard to tell on my phone.

Haha... I think I know what this is.

There are two ways to confirm; post a higher resolution photo, or... Do me a favor, poke it with a stick. Lol.

I suspect these are little beneficial bugs. I often see them in the same places as chitons; hidden under frag plugs and such. They just have a cool camouflage pattern. If I’m right, they will walk/move if they are disturbed. And I’ve never seen them cause a problem.

Otherwise, I think the above are good guesses too. And we could maybe look with a closer photo!
