When they get large enough, they will pop snails right out of their shells, I've seen it happen

Small ones are harmless and cool!

They are good...if they came from those rocks you got from me there should be plenty more!

They are good. If you see any green serpents that look like that......they are bad. They'll eat your fish when they get big enough or the fish are small enough.

This is my guess after reviewing the hitch hikers guide. I already put them in the tank.

Thanks.

I found 6... lol

you'll see them at night... I would be very careful as they get bigger... they can mess with rockwork that isn't firmly in place, especially newly glued frag plugs.. mine also got hold of a couple cleaner/fire shrimp... he lives in the sump now, and I'd never add another one to the tank...

Those are brittles, not serpents. Serpent stars are smooth, brittles have all the brush looking things on their legs.
In the 7 months since my green serpent came out or a rock, he has grown very large. So far he has not bothered anybody or anything, so for now I just watch him. (I did see it go after a turbo snail that landed upside down. But to be fair the hermit crabs will also go after the turbos that land upside down.
Brittles tend to go after things more then serpents. If you have or want to buy pepper shrimp, small hermits, small snails or small fish, then having more then one brittle is asking for trouble.

<> You mean like my 7 month old serpent star? :) (bottom and top shot) Dude has gotten rather big and always comes out at night. I feed him once a week. (keeps him happy and my other fish alive :) )

Yeah, those are the fish eaters. They form a little canopy at night and wait for a fish to swim inside.....then....bam....dinner.

They are similar but not the same as the "Green Death" brittles. Those in the picture stay very tiny and are harmless.

I've seen the large green brittles with a leg-span of about 12" across. The ones pictured are adult size - they aren't going to get much bigger than they are.
