To keep Jacob's knowledge going about breeding. I just added these guys to my tank and if they ever spawn I will make sure Jacob are the first person I call to give me tips.

That's a EC Frostbite and a Snowflake(DawgFace)and if they breed I shall name them "FROSTED FLAKES".

The FB is only 3/4 an inch but has incredible markings. Picked up from Pure Reef. The SF was a pair I split from DawgFace with HiImSean.

Has anyone else heard of this "mutation" pair breading?

Nice clowns and I think a frostbite? Wouldn't the offspring just be all frostbite? And that Xenia is spreading like crazy in your tank lol.

Let me drop a knowledge bomb:

and also retract my EC Frostbite comment for a SA Frostbite. Again I received them from PureReef in Alpharetta so I assumed it was of the correct line. I know I paid premium retail for them but that doesn't always equate.

So am I reading that if they spawn you are interested in raising them Jacob?

I'm also new to the thoughts of how these "mutations" really work. Anyone else care to chime in?

Yes. I have a couple people that offered me some eggs. I would definetly raise the young just to see how they turn out.

Well I would be more than happy to hand them over to you.. If that day comes.

The wife has been trying to get me to upgrade tanks again to something bigger. I'm just not sure I'm ready to take that on again...

I agree with your wife. You should upgrade. It makes things so much more interesting and theirs more to look at. Me and my mom already know we are getting a 120 gallon when we move in January. Its quiet the wait. And don't forget if you do upgrade your tank that mean more coral lol.

Looking good Perry! Is the sf larger than the FB? I'm a little nervous about adding mine to the DT with the onyx. He's a lot tinier looking than when he was with yours lol. I'm gonna drop him in the acclimation box either tomorrow night or Saturday.

I believe that there is a 100% chance that the gene that causes the color and pattern of the fish will be passed on if both parent's have dominant gene.

There are also recessive genes, however, and I think there is always a chance that the non-mutated gene is passed along, and I'm pretty sure that there is a way to determine the % chance of that.

You should be able to figure it out by looking into phenotype, traits, and dominant and recessive genes. I believe the answer to your question lies somewhere in a better understanding of those terms.
