I don't get it. I want to respond to a post over in the Drygoods and Livestock forum, but it tells me I need 10 posts to be able to respond to a post.

When I try to make a post, I'm told I need 30 posts to post something. I don't understand this system. Am I missing some very obvious rule or setting?

The club is all about sharing information, not a place just to go buy stuff or sell stuff - the post count rules deter that and it keeps spam off the boards.

start by making an introduction thread tell us about yourself and your system, we love pics too!

Welcome!

thanks for the advice guys, I was a bit paranoid about posting stuff just to boost my count. It simply didn't strike me as appropriate behavior for a newbie.

Do you know if I am limited to specific forums early on?

Any post padding is promptly deleted - you can just chat here and get your post count up..

what kind of tank do you have?

+1 Give some useful information and you'll be fine.

The post minimums are to prevent Spammers and those solely interested in selling stuff on the FS forums. The ARC FS Forums are for those that are a part of the ARC Community. The FS Forums are not intended to be, and will never be a Craigslist for disposal of everyone's drygoods and livestock. They are meant to be there as a convenience to those that make a meaningful contribution to the ARC Community, not for those that just fill out the registration form.

Your concern about post padding is well placed, and shows you are not that type. We do not allow that and delete those types of posts when we see them. Users that continue to post in that style are not here too long.

ARC Members have no minimums of any type, so you may want to consider becoming a Member, but that is only a suggestion.

Otherwise, try to help others and ask any pertinent questions. Become a part of the ARC Community here, Member or User, and your count requirements will be met in no time.

Glad you are here.

Gotta say this, you guys are really nice.

You've kept a civil head and guided me in the right direction. Thanks for keeping me honest and not letting me slip into my own brand of stupidity.

Best behavior from here out.

So... you a physician or just a Bewitched fan? "Calling Dr. Bombay, calling Dr. Bombay. Emergency! Come right away!"

The gang here is incredibly generous and smaaaaart. Ask anything and everything you even remotely think you might want to know about the hobby, listen until you can't stand not having a tank of your own, let one of these guys and gals help set you up, then listen a bunch more!

RATS! I came here to post that! Since I saw the user name that phrase has been stuck in my head!

Guess I'll just wiggle my nose and wander back to my corner...

Edit: I wonder how many people reading this have no earthly idea what we old farts are talking about?!

Welcome, DrBombay!
