Has anyone used the aquavitro Fuel additive long term? I'm about to run out of the current AA supplement (Elos) and wanted to see if there was a more cost effective alternative.

Thanks for any reviews:)

I have been using it for several months. I see a noticeable polyp size increase with my acans and other lps. No big difference I can see with sps. I would cut the recommended dose in half though. Even the techs at seachem said it was overkill.

ive used it for years now. I see good results from it. My corals always get puffy

if only sps i wouldnt dose aa it leads to more problems with alge cyno being the main one that thrives wen aa is dosed

Just about through my 2nd bottle and will be buying a 3rd. Seems to be doing well. It similar to Seachem Plus. I went ahead and bought a bottle of the Vibrance tonight. See how it does.
The Fuel is something that I noticed guys I have bought coral from seem to use. So if more than one had enough growth to frag out...it must work.

I mix it with my thawed frozen so it gets dosed in small amounts daily. When I get lazy and feed flake for a few days (thus no fuel) it shows. Could all be my imagination tho ;)

My tank explodes with cyno if I use it

Ive used it for years. Nothing for sps but lots of extention on lps and softies. But like seth said if u use to much cyno will go crazy. It also lowers oxygen level if u use to much. I dose 1/2 of what it says in my frag tank and about 1/3 in my dt.

We use it in all our systems with corals, at the shop, especially the 65. Lots and lots of growth, even in the Seriatopora and Acropora millipora (both SPS). When it's used properly it doesn't promote cyano - at least not any more than other nutrient load.

Bingo!

Magic words...'used correctly'

It's easy to want to 'dump and run' when dosing any organic carbon source. Therein lies most of the problems, ime.

I've been using it "correctly" now for a few months and have no cyano problems. Growth on lps and sps seems to be great so far

what? you mean I can't dump half of it in my 125 and double the size of my sps corals by the end of the week ?:) haha

I agree with this, although I've not used it yet, what little success I've seen with my tank and what little dosing I chose to do has happened over a period of 4-6 months...

as far as cyano, I've had bouts with it too, but I know how to safely get rid of it now. Its a balancing act between coral nourishment and nutrient export. Maintaining a ULNS (or at least off the low end of MY test kits) inhibits blooms but also encourages a washed out coloration... more nutrients encourages blooms, but allows a healthier looking coral (at least to me).

Still not decided on it yet. Will be picking the brain of some long term successful reefers first :)

(as I'm doing here I'm sure)
