So I was seeing a really good deal on a fx4 from someone I know. I was wondering if it would be usable on a 30 gallon reef or would it not be good. Anyone know anything about it? Thanks

Looks like it would be a bit of overkill for a 30G tank. I know it says up to 250 gallon tanks but with 700gph flow it might be better suited for something in the 55-120 gallon range.

So would there be any problems or would I be able to use it. More flow from the output would probably be appreciated by my coral

Might have to give it a try as I have heavy substrate and used a hydor professional 600 on it previously and had no problems regarding flow. Was just worried abt water temp chafing because of the motor.

Anyone know if you can lower the flow of the output?

You can lower the flow of any pump, by putting a variable bypass in place.

Exampls:
The bypass can be plumbed with the output being ‘T’d’ off with a valve on the bypass, going back into the suction intake.

Or, the the valved bypass going back into a sump, etc.
