I was at the aquarium this week, and I saw a really cool fish that I was thinking of trying to find for my tank. It was in that first tank on the left with all the garden eels. It was about 4 to 5 inches long and a brilliant purple. The shake is like a pseudo chromous but it seemed much larger. It appeared to be paired up with a yellow fish of the same shape.

I watched the scrolling ID screens but that fish never came up during the loop.
Anyone ID?

They're in that first big tank in Tropical Diver with anthias, garden eels, angels, butterflies and a few tangs.

Yep - Purple Tile Fish

Definitely it thanks! Beautiful purple color. Never heard of a tilefish before!

^^
That's what I thought, I been observing some tanks there that look good, not great, but there's some others that looks like they were in automatic pilot.
I know they should be really experienced people and volunteers (lots) there for preventing, maintenance and needs of all the tanks.
Sorry to get out of topic.

Tile gobies are nice but they can be delicate. Make sure you get one that's well acclimated. I had a few over the years when I had my shop. Gorgeous fish.

And yeah - what's up with all the diatoms at GA??

Jenn

Interesting, I thought it was cyano but I don't think I've ever had diatoms so not sure the difference in looks.
Thanks for the heads up on the tilefish Jenn. Good to know!
