Anyone tried a garage tank in GA? Worried about temp control in winter and summer. I suppose I would have to have a large chiller, and lots of heaters. Thinking about putting one in the garage in wall, that would be viewable in dining room.

Any thoughts?

I don't know how much space you have to play with, but could you build a fake wall/ enclosure to prevent the backside from being exposed? That would help with temp and any fumes from garage into house

55 Gallon DT, 30 Gallon Sump, Dual DIY PVC Overflow, Tunze Protein Skimmer, Jier JR 400 Gph return pump, 4 bulb T5HO w/ Night LEDs, 2x 850gph Koralia

hmmmm... based on how cold my garage gets in the winter I wouldn't even consider it.. UNLESS you enclosed it some way or pump central air in there.....

Yeah. That's what I was thinking. Just too cold. There is one air vent in there and it's on the other end of the garage.

I have several tanks running for couple years in my garage I built a wall across the back of the Garage and put a door in and tied in a vent right off the heat duct and it works great. It heats in the winter and keeps cool in the summer.
The temp gets about 60 degrees even when its 25 outside.
I do run 2 150 watt ehiem heaters in each tank ( 2- 75 gallon with 20 gallon sump and 34 gal with a 15 gallon sump)
Tanks stay 76-80 year round

I had a frag tank in my garage for awhile, I ran 2 250w MH lights, 4 actinic t5's and 3 heaters (1 inside the tank and 2 in the sump) on a 60 gallon frag tank. During the summer I used a 1/4 hp Oceanic chiller that did the job. I ran my MH lights for 5 hours a day, t5's for 10 hours a day and I didn't have any problems. I did that last winter and it wasn't a harsh winter so I'm not advising you to try, im just telling my story. AT YOUR OWN RISK lol....

Reefrunner has a frag tank setup in his garage, seems to be doing well. Might want to get some feedback from him

I have my 4'x3'x9" frag tank set up in the garage. No issues, thus far. I insulated the door with insulation board R-5, regulates temp very well. Garage stayed around 69-70 even on the coldest day yet. No central heating in garage. Tank hovers @ 76.4-78

I have a 100g stock tank as a sump, one 300w heater…. 400w Radium…. The chiller actually kicks on now and again believe it or not….lol

My QT/Frag tank is in my garage. No issues and I run the standard configuration of heaters and I have a chiller for summertime but honestly, the tank rarely gets over 80 degrees. Now mind you, I have a double insulated garage door so my garage doesn't get as cold or hot as most.
