I have roughly a softball size birdsnest colony that had some parts bleach out on me but are now starting to come back and the colony is actually thriving showing a lot of new growth. However, on the bottom/underside of the colony Im starting to get GHA. Typically I have seen this on dead parts but Im actually seeing it show up in areas that have good coloration and growth. Is there anyway to keep the colony intact and get rid of the GHA? Can SPS be dipped in H2o2?

Don't know much about SPS but I don't think you can dip them in hydrogen peroxide. Maybe someone that keeps mostly SPS will chime in soon.

you need to take care of your hair algae as that means your nutrients are too high.

I would take out the colony, and cut away the dead section and put the live parts back in.

H2O2 will kill any portions of live coral pretty quickly...

its odd bc the only place I have GHA is whats growing off the colony and not anywhere else in the tank. Will the algae only grow on the dead parts?

You can try a CoralRx dip......it states that it will eliminate hair algae on the bottle.

that would work, too....

If you don't want to drop cash on the bottle, I could bring some to my office in Buckhead on Monday if you remind me.
