When it is time to change my GFO it is a PITA. Will it hurt to put it in the reactor and just run tap or RO/DI water through it for a while to rinse it off and get the dust cloud out?

Thanks

I rinse my media before I put it in the reactor.

You still run the risk of dust getting clogged in the sponge when running through FW, then getting dislodged when in SW.

I usually run a couple gallons of tank water through the reactor and new media and into a bucket. The just discard the bucket water. It saves a step, doesn't introduce any tap water, and it's a [very] small water change.

How often are you guys changing your GFO and Carbon?
