I have several snails I bought, Bumble Bee and one Turbo. Several types of "hitch hikers" have come out of my LR. Some have pointed spiral shells (small), larger with rounded, spiral shells and 3 or 4 that appear to be Sea Slugs with a flat, small shell.

I have been trying to figure out if any are BAD! Any help or links whould be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Danny

Do the larger spiral snails look like this or similiar? If so, they could either Margarita or Nerite snails.

Those flat slug like things sound like limpets. Some limpets are known to munch on hard corals, so just keep an eye out if you plan on putting sps in.

I think some may be Sundials and a few may be tiny, tiny Margarita or Nerite snails. Some are so small, it is hard to tell.

The flat ones, sea slugs maybe, are about 1/2 inch long with long tentacles. Are those limpets? All they have done is cruise the LR, which they can actually one pretty fast.

How do you know which ones may be bad?

Thanks again

I forget what those flat shelled ones are called but I have some myself. After I did some research a few months ago, I found that they are safe to have.

the sluglike ones with a small, thin, fingernail like shell? Stomatella. They breed like rabbits, but are harmless.

That what they are! Thanks

Three are white and one is black. They are fast, for snails. Since they are reef-safe, I really like them! :)

The small sundials will get removed the next time I see them.

Thanks for the help.

Danny
