Big shout out to @kbuck for hooking me up with some berghias. I let this get out of control during the pandemic. Time to take back control of my tank. I'll try to remember to keep this updated as they eat all these aiptasia.

You’ll have plenty to sell once they’re done in your tank 🤣

So, 1.5 months later and, honestly, it looks worse. I was getting worried that they all died or got eaten (only fish are 2 tangs, 2 maroon clowns, and a pintail fairy wrasse). However, the last few days I've been checking at night and I've seen several. Tonight I think I spotted the first one that had hatched in my tank (a very small guy). I also think I saw some eggs. I likely need to start a separate tank for aiptasia now if I want to keep being nudis before its too late. It's definitely taking longer than I thought to see results but I'm glad to see some new nudis around.

Peppermint shrimp will eat the aiptasia for sure and the problem will be gone, just so you know they will also eat zoas and mushrooms

Also do you know about aiptasia-x ?
You can also inject them with a really strong salt brine

Peppermints are very hit or miss in my experience. I've also got a big bottle of aiptasia x that did no good. In fact, especially for bad situations like mine, I think it makes it worse. Just too hard to get to them all. Berghias are the only fool proof method that I know. It takes a long time and it's pretty expensive (but I dropped about $100 on peppermints at one point). I'm staying the course. Things are looking like turning the corner.

I've got supplies coming to set up an aiptasia tank. Crushed coral substrate. Going to go with a 20L with a fluval 406 for the filter. I have an old Marineland LED I will use for lighting.

Yeah biggest problem with the making sure the peppermints do their job is they cant have any other food at all so they have no choice.

What? lmao , are you saying your going to raise aiptasia ? and if so why? Then if so why kill the ones you have?

The plan is to breed berghias. If I can make back my initial investment I would be happy. I want the aiptasia in a controlled environment and out of my display. The 20L will be for aiptasia and I'll have a separate tank for berghias.

oh oh got you. Now I get it that will be cool to grow those. So when you get it going what is your plan to keep them feed, want you have a problem keeping enough aiptasia for them?

They are voracious eaters and once you have a large enough population, they just destroy aiptasia. So, by setting up early I hope to have a large enough population of aiptasia that I can just move a rock at a time over to the breeding tank to keep them fed until I can sell some.
