I got some free from a ARC member quite a few months ago, but now I am reading a lot of bad things about it. No I am wondering should I keep it or trash it? If I didn't have a community of Copepods living and thriving in it I would have thrown it in the woods with no problem. Please give me your knowledge on raising and keeping this in your reef tank.

Thank You

i have had mine for a year now and have not had any issuse. i changed sumps a couple of months ago and the fuge from center no tumble to left side tumble and it has stopped growing as much but is totally green now all around. sometimes it stops but most of the time it spinns

I haven't had luck with Chaeto for some reason. The only thing I can think of is that it needs more flow. The cheato only got the flow from running water from the sump area. I guess I need to find a bunch of Cheato now.

I have a 32w Power Compact light fixture by ADHI under there. It fits right on the refugium.

Edit: I don't know the Kelvins for the bulbs.

Go ahead and keep it. Just be careful with it. If you are not careful, or don't have a fish that eats it, it can take over your tank. It can grow really fast. I had a 90 gallon system with it in the display and it never "went sexual". I think the key is to not let it get too thick so the entire plant can get light. If there are parts that don't get light, it will bleach out, just like cheato. Also, keep your temp in check. I never let my tank temp get over 80. I think high temps (mid 80s) causes it to go sexual.

I've got a large amount of chaeto in my sump that grows very well under a simple flood light. I would trade a good amount for a frag of something if you're interested. i'm in flowery branch
