Was just looking in my refugium and saw weird green bubble algae on a piece of live rock. Does anyone know what this is?

Good or bad? Do I need to get rid of it? There are two filters between my refugium and return pump back into the display.

Little bit of both I guess. More trouble than it's worth IMO. Here's an old thread on it

It's Caulperpa racemosa (yes, grape caulerpa).

Good or bad depends who you ask. Yes, it's invasive if allowed to become so. There's some mixed info in that other thread - it's not noxious to fish, many herbivores will eat it.

Yes it will crash if it's untended - if you want to keep it, keep it contained, and keep it pruned.

I had some in my refugium in my seahorse tank, crash, years ago. Woke up to see milky, cloudy water. No deaths/damage in my case but a big Caulperpa crash *can* foul a tank.

i also keep some in my sump for nitrate removal and as long as you keep it trimmed/pruned back you shouldnt have any problems and my blue tang loves to eat it. if i plan on going away for a day or two i just throw a nice clump in the tank for him and hes happy.
