Gross maybe causing problems?

I have no picture so, I may be crap out of luck but.

In my 24 gallon tank, all softies lps and only spongodes are doing beautifully. The zoas and palys on the other hand, have been crinkled around the skirts, closed or receding depending on the type.

I was gently removing some of the red slime from the tops of my green mouths which haven't opened in months when one of them squeezed out some brown gunk that could be a parasite. I was able to pull it out with no resistance. I haven't seen anything crawling around my tank that is unusual. This could just be detritus goop for all I know.

it was about a 1/2 inch long, brown slimy string. No distinguishable parts. My first thought was flat worm but, from my internet search, flat worms are kind of pretty.
