I debated posting this, but I want to share with you my latest aquatic experience. I've learned a lot on this forum and I really appreciate the advice of all the members. I made an emotional and uninformed purchase this weekend. While I am very happy I have the privilege of taking care of this animal, its a creature that, at least at this stage of our understanding, should not be removed from the ocean. It is rare and magnificent. Take a look but please don't ask your local LFS to find one for you. I'm sorry this quy is in my tank, but I will do my best to take care of him. He is eating well and seems happy.

Do you mind me asking where you got it? Its crazy gorgeous. What is the deal with it being a big no-no? Just curious.

care to elaborate??

fwiw, their lifespan in the wild is typically less than 1 year and rarely more than 1.5 years...

Good luck here is a link to a good forum on all types of Cephalopods.

Beautiful...and good luck to both of you.
I kind of understand what you mean...have had similar thoughts about some of my fish...especially after they've passed due to a dumb mistake on my part.

Very little to nothing is really known about these amazing animals- even in the wild. Not only biology, husbandry, and requirements, but also the extent of the population, or lack thereof. I applaud Shadow for being forthcoming about his regret, as too often in this hobby, the most beautiful and desireable animals are collected and sold in the name of profit, with the ethics being left by the wayside.
