too lazy to look it up - whats your best practices for ridding HA? i have 2 rocks that have it and they arent removable - my lawnmower blenny and emerald crab havent been touching it - neither has my tang or foxface. i imagine their is another method for removal?

Dude, that *is* lazy! :confused2:

There are roughly a gazillion answers.

Reduce the nutrients that are feeding the HA. More and larger water changes, reduce feedings, and bigger skimmer a few of the straight forward ideas.

Well, if you're too lazy to look up (possibly) the number one *most discussed* plague in reef tanks, then consider just leaving the hair algae. It filters and traps all you nitrates from the water column, gives your fish cool places to hide, and with it swaying in the current, you can see any dead spots in the tank.......

Just a thought.....

I like your style

Im really not lazy though I just figured why look at several google pages when I can get the real knowledge right here. :D

I am not lazy with my tank though and its kind of bothering me, not sure I want to keep it around. if it gets any worse i will step up to weekly WC's and see what happens.

i had a frag of zoas that had a hair algae problem for a couple months. It started off with a couple strands but then just took over the frag. I had to manually pull lots of it off, reduced feedings, and added chaeto. The chaeto is huge now and my display is free of all algae. One time before i added chaeto, my turbo snail sat on top of the frag and mowed the algae off, but it came back in a day or so, lol.

I pulled mine off (what showed up after the tank cycled, anyway) and did a waterchange..

I also reduced the photoperiod... it's been a month and I haven't seen any more cropping up..
