ok...... i love them! super easy and hopefully accurate.

i got a alk and low range phos and just did both. total time maybe 5 min just because i wanted to make sure i did it correctly and carefully.

alk = 142 (i think i multiply by .056 to get dkh = 8.12dkh)

phos .30

questions:

if when i suck the reagent for the alk up into the syringe, should the black thing be on the 1ml line, or the liquid? I did the black thing on it because the liquid was all the way to the end of the tip so i figured it compensated for it..?

is my dkh too low? i know most say between 8-12 so???? I am dosing vodka and i am at 3ml a day..

phos good?

coral overall looks fine..
in any event, it was deff worth the ~$100 for the 2 testers and extra reagents for not having to figure out colors and all that stuff!!

I am glad you posted a review on these, I am looking into them right now and have been seeing some mixed reviews. On the BRS video they show the water line above the 1 ml line.

How are you dosing for alk? maybe bump up alk dosing a little to get it a little higher but if your results are currently good, do what you do.

Phos of .3 is pretty high, isn't it?

I've got the phosphorous checker and just got a reading of .055. Do you have the phosphorous checker? I got a reading of 18. To convert to phosphates you multiply x 3.066 then divide by 1000.

I have their PO4, Alk, and Cal checker and really like them. My only complaint is with the Cal checker. You have to use .1ml of tank water in the test and that is too small of a sample to make sure you are exact every time.

do you manually try to fill it to .1ml or do you have a syringe? I use a medical grade syringe for all of my measurements like that and feel that I am pretty accurate.

I use a syringe and fill it to the 1ml line and then slowly drip until it is down to the .9ml line, but stil being above or below the .9ml line is a big difference in this test.

true. much easier to gauge on a 1ml syringe, so if you are using a 5ml or > I could def see where you are coming from.

I saw a video on another forum and the Hanna Rep on the video addressed this concern and said they have had a lot of complaints and are still looking into it. She also said in the video that they will be releasing a new checker this year and it will probably be a Mg or Nitrate checker. Which ever it is I will be buying it.

i have the low range one..

Ive had the alk checker for a while. The reagent needs to reach the 1ml mark. I ordered more reagent and the phosphate low range checker over a week ago. I called thursday and was told it would ship that day or the next. It didnt. The products themselves are amazing but the hanna customer service is not. Im going to call today and demand free shipping upgrade. It shouldnt take over a week to ship an order thats in stock. Ive been out of alk reagent for two weeks and its very inconvenient.
