So I stopped at my local LFS and picked up this small birdnest colony, after acclimating, and getting it in the tank, I was shocked to see a pair of tiny acro crabs clinging to the branches. :thumbs:They are about 3/8"-1/2".

Is there any special care they need...or do they just live off of the coral? I guess I'll be doing some research on them tonight.

they will kill your birdsnest!!! just kidding. the female will, however, delibrately kill a few branches and try to completely enclose themselves in the birdsnest (to protect her offsprings), the male will bring food and mate with the female and the female will reproduce and live her entire life in the prison she makes herself with her babies.

hope the ones you got are a mated pair and you can witness something not everyone can experience.

Thanks for the info...that would be really cool if they were a pair! I'm now more excited about the free crabs than the birdnest coral! It's like I bought two crabs that came with a free coral!
